For this system, member administration and registration were all maintained manually. This was done in separate Excel files that each stood on their own, with all the inconsistencies and problems that entails. There were multiple “versions” of the member list as well as various registrations, making errors very likely.
To simplify all of this while also increasing transparency for members. Members should be able to track their own registrations.
Together with the board, the exact requirements were determined. From these discussions it became clear that the primary goal was to improve the registration of completed rides. This was the starting point. The aim was to track who had ridden which route, at what time, and with which group. It became apparent that to achieve this, a single authoritative member list was needed. Everything grew from there into the system it is today.
In the current system, we have gone beyond a simple member management system with ride registration. There is now also a web shop for clothing, sign-ups for various activities, and a modest content management system — all with role-based permissions and authorisations.
